Artist Statement
"It's so funny to me, each person's definition of art. What is it? Its purpose, its point. To a lot of people I suppose it's to show skill and time and pretty things, overall beauty. I can appreciate that type of work, and admit I probably couldn't do it or have that type of patience, and I can have tremendous respect, but it's not art to me it just shows skill and ability, which is something else. I don't think you need skill or ability to be a truly amazing artist. Art it's suppose to be disturbing and ugly, makes you think, brings something up in you, and that in itself is beauty and beautiful. I am constantly purging up pieces of myself onto paper, cardboard, trash, desperately trying to find myself and be able to put some of those pieces together. Hopefully making some sort of storey out of my life. " - Kelly Lehman, 2008
